When you have root-level access to a hosting server, it means that you'll have full control over it. In other words, you can install any server-side app no matter what the changes that it will make to the software environment on the server, and you will be able to both access and customize any file, including system files, and change various settings. This can be done by connecting to the server as a root user which has full privileges to do all these things and to create other users, which includes users who also have full privileges. The connection can be established using a web-based graphical interface or a Secure Shell console. For safety reasons, it's recommended that you create a separate user for your everyday work and use the root user only when you need to customize the server or to install software that may be required by a script-driven app that you want to run.

Full Root-level Access in VPS Web Hosting

If you get a virtual private servers from us, you'll have full root-level access in three cases - if the server features no website hosting Control Panel at all, or when you select cPanel or DirectAdmin throughout the order process. In the first case, you'll be able to change any part of the system via a Secure Shell console, while in the second, you'll still be able to use SSH in order to connect and to make modifications, however you will also have a graphical interface you can use to control your web content and many of the system settings. The root access makes our virtual server packages an excellent choice if you would like to run any kind of software that you can not set up in an ordinary shared hosting account. With the last Control Panel option - Hepsia, you will be able to connect through SSH and to take care of the content on the server, however, the root access rights are more limited.

Full Root-level Access in Dedicated Servers Hosting

You will have full root-level access to your dedicated server regardless of what package you choose during the registration process, as long as the server is ordered with cPanel or DirectAdmin, or without web hosting Control Panel at all. In each of these 3 cases, you are able to modify any part of the software environment in any way you see fit, that makes our server plans suitable for multi-media apps with specific requirements that can't be covered if you use a shared website hosting account. The difference between these options is that with cPanel or DirectAdmin, you'll have a web-based graphical interface to take care of a variety of server-side options and any web content which you generate or upload, whereas if you order the server devoid of Control Panel, you'll have to perform everything through a Secure Shell console or to install a Control Panel of your liking, if it's compatible with the Operating System that you have chosen during the sign up process. With the last Control Panel option that you are able to choose on our order page - Hepsia, the root access is limited.
